By the sea in Baltimore
Baltimore, Maryland is a great place to visit at any time of year, winter or summer. While most outdoor activities center around the sea during the summer months, fine dining in Baltimore is a year round thing, and easily accessible with a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coach or school bus chartered from Baltimore Bus Charters. With a charter bus, you and your group can travel around Baltimore in style and comfort while your reliable charter bus driver takes you round the city for a gastronomic tour.
Seafood has to be fresh, for the best results in cooking, and they don’t get much fresher than at the Black Olive restaurant. The waiter will invite charter bus diners into this Greek restaurant’s kitchen to view the day’s catch, where they can see for themselves exactly how bright-eyed and glossy the fish are. Choices are wide, though seasonal, including pompano, sea bream and Dover sole, among others. Head back to your table and your meal will soon arrive, burnished by the grill and garnished with little more than a hint of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and a couple of capers. The secret of the Black Olive is this, fish this fresh needs nothing more to show off its delicate flavors. Add a bottle of intriguing Greek wine from the comprehensive wine list to complement your meal, and finish it off with a hand made baklava for dessert.
Glamor has always been a part of properly executed fine dining, and nowhere will charter bus visitors feel more like royalty than at Sascha’s 527 Cafe in Baltimore. This dramatic restaurant, brainchild of owner Sascha Wolhandler, sets the scene with a red velvet curtain entrance, 16 foot tall ceilings, towering flower arrangements and a vintage chandelier that looks like it come out of Versailles. While the surroundings are palatial, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. There certainly isn’t any pretentiousness in the menu, which is bistro style international without being overwhelmingly haute cuisine. Sascha’s menu is seasonal, and changes frequently, but some favorites are the tapas style shrimp, coriander encrusted scallops and grilled rainbow trout.
Gunning’s Seafood Restaurant looks a little anonymous and nondescript, but it’s well worth the charter bus ride out to this place for their steamed hard shell crabs. Three generations of the Gunnings family have been in the business of seafood preparation for over 40 years, and they do know their crabs. Best visited in the summer, when the blue shelled crabs that hit your plate come straight from Maryland’s own Wye River, supposedly the best place in the country to find the fattest, tastiest crabs. And not just the steamed crabs, batter-dipped crab cakes, fried stuffed hard-shell crabs, soft-shell crabs in season are all on the menu, with the house specialty, battered and deep-fried green pepper rings, dusted with powdered sugar.
For a seafood soiree through Baltimore, give Baltimore Bus Charters a call to find out how they can help you arrange your charter bus trips with a selection from their fleet of charter buses and friendly, personalized service.

Canal cruising on the C&O.
If you’re in Maryland, give Baltimore Bus Charters a call and rent a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coach or school bus from us, and take your group down to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.
The C&O Canal was built in response to a need to move goods down the Potomac River. During the 19th and 19th centuries, the towns of Georgetown and Alexandria were major trading ports for the shipment of tobacco, grains, whiskey, furs, timber and other items. The problem was that most of these goods originated in Cumberland, and had to travel down a 184 mile stretch of the Potomac River to Chesapeake Bay. Two waterfalls, the Great Falls and the Little Falls, made boat transportation impossible.
During this charter bus trip, find out how engineers designed a system of locks and canals that ran parallel to the river. This allowed boats to be raised or lowered to match the level of the river. Construction of the C&O Canal began in 1824, and by 1850, 74 locks were completed. The original construction plan called for the canal system to reach all the way to the Ohio river. This plan was canceled when the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was constructed, providing a faster and cheaper method for shipping goods. The C&O Canal operated till 1924, before being finally shut down.
Today, many original structures and buildings are still standing along the C&O, including the original locks and lock houses. In 1971 the C&O was designated a national park, providing charter bus tour visitors a place to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the region’s history.
Taking a charter bus from Baltimore Bus Charters, you can stop at one of several visitor centers along the length of the canal, depending on which activities your bus charters group intends to take. There are several activities available, ranging from the leisurely to the active.
Boat rides are available at Great Falls and Williamsport. Great Falls offers mule drawn boat rides, just as they did back in the 1800s when the C&O Canal was used as a transport system. Launch rides are available at Williamsport. Both both rides are extremely popular, and reservations are recommended.
Canoeing and kayaking are popular activities on the canal for enthusiastic and sporting charter bus visitors, with several launch ramps provided along its length. Please check with a C&O Canal visitor center for ramp locations. Do note that gasoline and propane powered boats are forbidden on the canal. However, electric powered outboards are allowed at select stretches.
Hiking and cycling are great ways to see the C&O Canal. Trails are well marked, and there are several campsites available. Note that hikers and cyclists must yield right of way to horses.
If you would like to bring your group on a visit to the C&O Canal, whether it be a day excursion or overnight camping trip which requires a drop-of and pick up at separate locations, give Baltimore Bus Charters a call to arrange your ground transportation needs.

Baltimore's Fell's Point, a Hidden Gem
As far as English cities in the United States of America is concerned, Fell's Point residents, a spirited waterfront community has as much roots from England as Boston. In fact, Fell's Point was named after a ship-building company started by some Englishmen way back in 1726. With a charter bus, party bus or when you rent a bus in Baltimore from Baltimore Bus Charters, we can take the scenic routes and enjoy even more gorgeous scenery.
What will strike you as astonishing and what distinguishes Fell's Point from all the other American cities is buildings and storefronts that maintain their 18th and 19th century looks. Yes, nothing's changed from the time when the British set foot on American soil. The business and people may have changed but these buildings used to be either bars, brothels or and boarding houses so, it really gives off a very colonial feeling. Fell's Point may not be considered a popular charter bus, tour bus and party bus tourist destinations but for those who are interested in the history of British in America and those who are into photography, Fell's Point is nothing short of heaven.
Looking for some shopping? Not a problem. You are going to have a ball of a time shopping at Broadway, Thames Street and not forgetting the unforgettable Belgian Block. When you gaze out of the party bus or charter bus window, you will see that the shops are all unparalleled. The Chesapeake Bay cuisine has been said to be completely unrivaled. Take a walk along any of the walkways will make you feel like you have just stepped back in time and as the wind sweeps in from the sea, all the stress of everyday life will fall away from your shoulders.
Fell's Point also has a huge role to play during the Revolutionary War and the 1812 war where it houses some of the privately owned ships that were authorized by the government to attack upon command. As you can see, there is more than meets the eye in Fell's Point and if you engaged with an experienced charter bus, coach bus or party bus driver, he or she can definitely bring you into even more unique nooks.
